Get to know me!

Hello there! Thank you for stopping by and even considering inviting me into your home. I know it seems weird, to invite someone in to see what seems like a big deep dark secret… you have clutter in your cabinets and haven’t touched the shelf in the closet in a decade… who doesn’t have a bin full of random wires that goes to who knows what by the way….all jokes aside, I wanted to introduce myself so it’s maybe a little more like inviting a friend over.

My name is Jenna and I was born and raised in Hawaii (I know, a dream!). I was homeschooled K-12 and despite my Mom being the preschool director, I dropped out of preschool when my parents decided to homeschool my older brother. I have loved organizing since I was teeny tiny, though I didn’t know that word. My brother and I had a game we played called “rubbish truck”, we would “drive” (the imagination game was strong!) our “rubbish truck” (aka couch) around and gather anything and everything and toss it into our truck. My favorite part of the game was cleaning up and putting everything back where it belonged. The theme would carry on throughout my life, a few years older, if I was bored I would purposefully mess my room up just so I could clean it up. My love for organizing then extended to helping my best friend clean her shared bedroom up anytime I would go over, and helping my brother who would rearrange his room at least once a month… I didn’t think anything of this, I knew it was maybe a little weird, but it brought me such joy so I just let it be my little slice of happiness. I would go on to teach dance for my friend’s Christian dance studio and utilized my love for organization as an admin assistant, eventually taking on the role of admin; working out schedules and creating cleaning lists and inventories, coordinating performances and rehearsals… it all helped me hone more organizational skills without even realizing it and for all that I learned throughout that time, I am so thankful! Eventually I moved on to working in retail and through that experience it made me realize that we are taken advantage of to overconsume and buy buy buy… I became very burnt out and as I talked to God about it all he placed a dream in me, that dream is Momentum Organizing.

I want to utilize the gifting’s the Lord has given me in the organizational and teaching aspects. I want to help equip you with the tools to be able to flex and flow with life and feel like you too can be successful in being organized in the long term, not just have me make it all pretty for you and then have it all fall apart again. As much as I want to tell you organizing is a one and done task it’s ongoing. It’s also more than just managing the physical items, but a lot starts with the physical clutter! Which is why I want to help you cut through the chatter of the constant tips, tricks, hacks and constant “buy this to fix your life” content that is pretty popular on social media. I have done a lot to learn all I can from as many viewpoints, angles and sources as possible to best be able to help you overcome your obstacles in being organized and move past the overwhelming, all consuming feeling that follows you around.

A few more random fun facts about me to get to know me a little more, I enjoy video games in my free time, I like to re-watch shows and movies I have already seen because I to know what happens next, I like to read but don’t do it nearly enough, I hardly listen to music ever since I stopped teaching dance, I have traveled to Australia several times and love it there! I love animals and have had a range of pets throughout my life. I am scared of heights, ladders and bugs. Now you know a little more about me. Thank you for considering bringing me into your life and letting me help you work through the clutter and gain Momentum and perspective on the way.

I offer you this encouragement; you do not in fact have to “get it all done”, you do not have to be a DIY professional, everything does not have to be “Pinterest perfect” or even social media worthy. You do not need to buy the bins and baskets from a special store, you do not have to be perfect at every thing. You are not a bad person, spouse or parent if your house has gotten a bit chaotic. You are not lacking or failing if you might need a little help to reign it in and get things back in order. We all have different strengths and struggles. There is no shame or judgement in asking for help. We are meant to have support and community. Please don’t let perfectionism keep you from dreaming big for yourself, your family and your home! Progress over perfection is one of my favorite sayings.

So, whether you have a secret “Monica closet”, or maybe it’s your whole house that needs an overhaul, there are soooooo many benefits I could go on and on about… and perhaps I will another time, but for now I thank you for reading this far and I hope your home will be a place of rest and joy and bring you comfort in this crazy world.
